Q: What are the museum hours?
A: The National Firearms Museum is open daily from 10 AM to 4 PM, except for major holidays.

Q: Is the museum downtown still open?

No, the NRA and the National Firearms Museum moved from Washington, DC, to Fairfax, Virginia, in December of 1993. At that time the museum downtown was closed.

Q: How do I get a guided tour for myself when I visit the museum?
A: The National Firearms Museum does not give guided tours. The museum is designed to be self-guided. Informational pamphlets are available that describe the displays and several user-friendly computer kiosks, located throughout the galleries, can be accessed to look up information about the firearms.

Q: I have heard that I can obtain an MI Garand from The National Rifle Association. How can I get one?
A: The NRA does not perform this service. Please contact the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) at (419) 635-2141 or (888) 267-0796 for the availability of surplus firearms for sale. Veterans' groups and law enforcement groups that are looking for loaner M1 rifles to use in ceremonies can contact the Department of the Army at (586) 574-8469.
